For practice owners
When you're ready to step back, your clients should be cared for.
You've spent years building a tax, bookkeeping or accounting practice and the trust that comes with it. If stepping back is on your mind, whether next year or in five, we'd value a private conversation about what comes next.
What the conversation covers
Shaped around you, your clients and your timing.
Caring for the people who trusted you
How your clients are introduced, who looks after them, and how their work continues without missing a deadline. You decide how the introductions happen.
A paid transition
You're paid for the practice you built. The arrangement is put in writing, with your own advisors involved.
Stay involved as long as you like
Some owners want to step away after one more season; others want to keep a few clients for years. Your role during the change is yours to choose.
Confidential from the first call
Nothing about the conversation is shared with your clients, your staff or anyone else without your OK. No client information changes hands until the right client consents are signed.
How it works
No pressure, no agenda beyond getting to know you.
A private conversation
A call, a coffee or a video meeting with our principal. We listen to what you want for your clients, your staff and yourself.
Time to think
No deadlines. If it's worth exploring, we talk again, with your own advisors involved when you're ready.
A plan in writing
If we both want to go ahead, the timing, your role and how your clients are introduced are set out in writing.
Questions
Questions owners ask first
Is this an offer to buy my practice?
It's a conversation first. Every owner has a different picture of the right handoff, so we start by listening. Anything beyond that is shaped around you, in writing, with your own advisors involved.
Will anyone know we're talking?
No. The conversation stays between you and our principal unless you decide otherwise.
I'm not ready to retire yet. Is it too early?
Not at all. Some of the best transitions start years ahead, which leaves time to introduce clients gradually and on your terms.
What happens to my clients' information?
Nothing moves until the client consents we require are signed. Your clients' information is handled under federal rules for tax return information and our written engagement letters.
Who would look after my clients?
The Legacy Advisory Firm: a tax, bookkeeping and payroll firm serving clients nationwide, whose principal gives final review on the work.
A private conversation
Whenever you're ready, even if that's years away
There's no obligation and no pressure. If the time isn't right, we'll still be glad to have met you.
